Gramercy, New York

When our clients moved into this 1920’s Emery Roth building, they wanted to update their apartment in a way that celebrated the beauty and history of the architecture. We brought old-world details to the kitchen through the addition of metal mesh grilles on the cabinet fronts, a classically laid terrazzo floor with brass inlay, and a honed marble counter and backsplash that would remain beautiful for years to come. The living room built-in incorporated arches that are present throughout the building architecture. We added modern flourishes with the use of bold colors, like the deep purple sofa, the emerald bathroom tile, and the oversized pink and green floral wallpaper in the eat-in kitchen banquette. The tension of the old and the new created a graceful balance in this project.
